If your Mazzer Robur/Royal is an Electronic or Automatic version, it need to make a jumper wire attached to the junction strip on the electronic base to bypass the electronic control panel or micro switch.

◆ Here are some methods of making jumpers for reference, but because the wiring version of each area may be different, you may not be able to make jumpers to bypass safety sensor switches or electronic controllers according to the following instructions. If you do not have proper electrical safety knowledge, please do not try to modify it.
◆ If your grinder is an Automatic version, you need to remove the microswitch of the doser & hopper very carefully.
A.The hopper have two red wires attached to the junction strip on the base as indicated A. The switch is normally closed so you need to make a jumper wire to replace the switch as shown:
B.The doser have two grey wires attached to the junction strip on the base. The switch is normally closed so you need to make a jumper wire on the switch as indicated B.
◆ If the two jumpers are completed successfully, turn on the power then the motor will work. Turn off the power then the motor will stop.
◆ If your grinder is an Electronic version, you need to remove the safe switch of the doser and the electronic control panel very carefully.

B.The electronic control panel have green, black, blue, brown four wires attached to the junction strip on the base. You need to make a jumper wire to cross the green and brown wires, and remove the 4 wires as shown as indicated ②.
◆ Please note that if the connect position of the jumper is wrong, it will cause electrical shorts, burn the fuse, and even more serious damage. If you do not have proper electrical safety knowledge, please do not try to modify it.
If the two jumpers are completed successfully, turn on the power then the motor will work. Turn off the power then the motor will stop.
◆ When opening the base, before making the jumper, you can hear a clicking sound when turning off the motor, that is the sound of the motor centrifugal switch. Therefore, after making the jumper, a clicking sound will still be heard when the motor is turned off. This is normal.

This mod is brilliant! I’ve bought the Mazzer Royal mod.
After buying the mod, hopper funnel and metal hopper cap, along with the air blower and a few extra magnets and rubber seals, the whole package was with me (in the UK), 3 days later. From Taiwan,, that’s great. Upon opening the very secure box, you can tell the love put into these pieces already. Each metal part is wrapped in bubble wrap, then tissue paper and housed inside a velvet-like drawstring bag.
Each part is expertly machined. These things are flawless in their construction and in my opinion very nice to look at, gleaming silver. They are heavy and nicely robust.
Installation is very easy, it took more time taking the doser off the front of the Royal. Once prepped (take off Royal doser and portafilter fork), the back plate screws on and fits perfectly. There’s a felt/rubber cut out that needs to go between the backplate and the Royal but this is sticky and easy to affix. Screws are provided. The dosing cup/pf platform screws onto the lip where the bottom of the doser sat. The detachable chute has strong magnets on the back and slots onto the top lip of the backplate. Finally the hopper cap fits on the top. And this fits perfectly. It’s heavy and rests on the throat of the Royal. Alternatively you can use the metal hopper. This is a small one but very heavy. Like everything else it is expertly machined. This really is beautiful stuff.
On to usage, how does it work? You take off the hopper cap, put your 18g or whatever of beans in and grind into your cup. This will get you about 13/14g of beans. You then take the blower – and this is the key design element – you blow a couple of times through the small hole in the cap and again through the small hole in the chute. I then grind again for two seconds and repeat. Finally you remove the chute, it’s magnetic remember and tap the final bit of grounds into your cup. (Static is not an issue at all btw).
Hold on to your hats – this gives ZERO RETENTION!
I’m single dosing 18g in and getting 18g out, on a 83mm flat burr ex-commerical grinder and the drinks taste amazing. This mod is a revelation that makes this possible. It’s very well designed, works perfectly and looks great, the worksmanship and finish is top notch.
I also should mention how nice and helpful Daniel Wong is. He was very friendly and and answered all my questions. If anyone was unsure about ordering from another country, rest assured, he’s a real coffee enthusiast, he does this out of love, wanting to help people get the most out of their grinders.
Final words – This mod is brilliant, I love it. The Daniel Wong Robur/Royal Doserless mod is elegant, expertly made, it’s easy to install and works flawlessly. I highly recommend it.
